MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC
Dear Midnight Sun Festival visitors
This event is about bringing people together. Every year the Midnight Sun Festival attracts Finns, Finnish Americans and friends of Finland from across America to celebrate Finnish heritage and to spend a wonderful weekend here in Bryant Park, Lake Worth.
Hundreds of thousands of Finns have found a new home in the United States, many of them here in Florida. It is great to see how this festival highlights Finnish nature and origins. No matter where we live.
I sincerely hope you enjoy your time here – and I could say that that is a good principle for life in general. I want to thank the organizers for this wonderful event and I wish all of you an exciting time at the festival.
Sauli Niinistö
The President of the Republic of Finland

Greetings - Mayor of Lake Worth, FL

History
The Finnish Festival was first celebrated in Lake Worth’s Bryant Park in 1983. It was founded by Lake Worth Mayor David Hinsa, who is Finnish-American, to celebrate Lake Worth’s rich, century old, Finnish heritage. The greater Lake Worth area has more people of Finnish descent than almost anywhere else in the United States. Lake Worth even has a sister city in Finland – Lappeenranta!
From 1983 to 1998, the Finnish Festival was called “Finlandia Days”. In 1999 it was renamed the “Midnight Sun Festival”. The City of Lake Worth is the Presenting Sponsor.
